BTR Sound Therapy

Dr. Paul Youn was born in Seoul, Korea. He is a graduate of Korean Medicine College, Kyung Hee University as a Doctor of Korean Medicine (DKM) and completed his master and Ph.D. in the same school in Seoul. He also obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker Chiropractic College in 1997 in Dallas, Texas.

He completed a 3-year postdoctoral neurology course at Logan and Parker Chiropractic College and successfully passed examinations leading to the certification of Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. He holds a Board Certification/Diplomate Status in International Board of Applied Kinesiology and Board Certified Teacher in ICAK. He is a Fellow of the American College of Functional Neurology and a Diplomat of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Dr. Youn is an Assistant Professor at the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies (www.CarrickInstitute.org) and lectures nationally and internationally on functional neurology.

Furthermore, he has completed advanced studies in the diagnosis and treatment of vestibular disorders, learning disabilities and behavioral disorders at the Carrick Institute for Postdoctoral Education. After learning about the challenges involved with treating tinnitus patients, Dr. Youn has expanded BingBing Tinnitus and Vestibular Clinic to assist the non-pharmaceutical treatment of tinnitus, vertigo and balance disorders in all age groups.

Upon treating many patients who suffer from vertigo, Dr. Youn noticed that many of the patients displayed symptoms of tinnitus. Recognizing a strong correlation among patients with vertigo and tinnitus, he felt compelled to research and take lectures relating to the complexity of treating tinnitus. After an exhaustive amount of research, he noticed that the combination of Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) and Chiropractic Neurology treatment remarkably improved the intensity of tinnitus.

Dr. Youn was able to create a neurological, structural, and nutritional treatment by consolidating the lessons he learned in several different seminars, including Dr. Pawel Jastreboff's TRT workshop, Tinnitus Research Institute's conference, University of Iowa's Tinnitus Seminar, and the International Tinnitus Conference, located in Germany.

Dr. Youn noticed that through "sound therapy," tinnitus symptoms such as uneasiness and depression were significantly minimized. Through this realization, he further pursued an advanced study in music and composition to apply them in his treatment.

Attending audiology associations held in Korea, Dr. Youn became recognized as a certified physician for audiometry testing after performing outstandingly on related exams. Thus, Dr. Youn was able to expand his approach in developing a thorough treatment for tinnitus patients through his newfound skills and knowledge relating to sound.

BTR (BingBing Tinnitus Rehabilitation) is a new treatment for the tinnitus condition that Dr. Youn has carefully designed. The BTR system incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to effectively treat tinnitus with sound therapy, chiropractic, and functional medicine, which includes a nutritional approach.

Departing from the traditional and basic "white noise" treatment, this new program utilizes the "Notch-Filter", "Phase-Shift", "De-Esser", and other treatments to dramatically reduce the ringing in the patient's ears.

This program consists of various sounds that are specially designed to not only alleviate ringing in the ear, but also to help improve anxiety and depression. Through BTR's music therapy treatment, you can take a firm step forward in your path to a successful recovery.

He has blended his background in nutrition with countless hours of advanced postdoctoral training in Functional Medicine and Neuroimmunological Studies to provide a comprehensive and unique approach to one's care.

He has also lectured at Korean Medicine College, Kyung Hee University, teaching tinnitus and vertigo, neurological diagnosis and treatments in Seoul. However, Dr. Youn's lecture halls can be found beyond the borders of Korea as he also lectures internationally at the Carrick Institute of Clinical Neurology, International college of Applied Kinesiology, and Korean Functional Medicine and Nutrition Association, teaching application techniques to various types of practitioners who seek his knowledge and skill.
